    Ethan Brown

    Ethan Brown
    Campus Minister // RUF at Illinois

    Ethan was born and raised in South Florida and attended the University of Florida, where he met his wife Amanda. Following graduation, he served as an RUF intern at Duke University. In 2018, the Browns moved to Charlotte, NC where Ethan attended Reformed Theological Seminary. In 2021, the Browns moved to Champaign-Urbana to plant the ministry of RUF at Illinois. Ethan loves getting to know students and helping them get to know King Jesus. Ethan loves going on walks, drinking craft coffee, reading good books, playing Spikeball, and spending time with Amanda and their three kids: Judah, Ellis, and Ezra.

    Jenn McFadden

    Jenn McFadden
    Campus Staff // RUF at Illinois

    Jenn was born in Ft. Hood, Texas and her family settled in Huntsville, Alabama after her dad retired from the Army in 2008. In 2018 Jenn graduated from Mississippi State University with a BFA. During her time at MSU, Jenn participated in RUF and loved it. After graduating, she worked as a designer in Philadelphia for 3 years before moving to Charlotte, NC to attend Reformed Theological Seminary. She plans to complete her MA in Christian Counseling by May 2025. She is thankful for how the Lord has called her to the University of Illinois with RUF and looks forward to the years to come!

    Ashley Preston

    Ashley Preston
    Intern // RUF at Illinois

    Ashley was born and raised in the area of Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Midwestern State University (not in the Midwest but in Wichita Falls, TX), where she studied Marketing and Nonprofit Management. In 2023, she married her high school sweetheart and now co-worker in RUF, Luke Preston. She moved to Urbana-Champaign in August of 2025 to begin the internship with RUF at Illinois and is excited to serve and see what the Lord has in store there. In her free time, she loves creating art, reading, baking, watching movies, and hanging out in coffee shops.

    Luke Preston
    Intern // RUF at Illinois

    Luke was born in Paris, Texas and grew up in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University where he got his B.S. in Civil Engineering and M.S. in Business. While at Texas A&M, Luke got involved with RUF and found his best and closest friends there. He learned what the Bible teaches and experienced the love of Jesus during the most formative years of his life. RUF has been a home away from home for Luke and he is looking forward to getting to serve the students at RUF in Illinois. In his free time, Luke enjoys reading, golfing, and hanging out with his wife, Ashley. He also enjoys playing any sports outside and watching movies or playing games with his friends. Luke is thrilled that the Lord has placed him at RUF in Illinois and is excited to be a part of the work that God is doing on the campus there.

    Kolten Ackerman

    Kolten Ackerman
    Intern // RUF at the University of Kentucky

    Kolten was born and raised in Edwardsville, Illinois, along with his older sister and younger brother. He attended the University of Illinois and graduated with a B.S. in Computer Engineering in May 2022. Following graduation, he worked at Discover Financial Services as a Cybersecurity Engineer for two years. However, his time in RUF as a college student and continued involvement post-graduation drove him to leave the corporate world and serve students at the University of Kentucky as an RUF Intern. Kolten loves playing sports, watching movies, reading a good book, strumming his guitar, and spreading the Gospel of Christ to everyone around him!

    Pascal Study Center exists to provide a place for the community of the University of Illinois and Champaign-Urbana to pursue deep questions about the Christian faith in relation to learning and vocation. With both humility and hope, Pascal Study Center seeks to engage the university community through academic hospitality and faithful presence.

    Dr. Emily Wenneborg

    Emily Wenneborg
    Director // Pascal Study Center

    Dr. Emily G. Wenneborg has a PhD in Philosophy of Education and Religious Studies from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. In 2022 Dr. Wenneborg became Director of Pascal Study Center and Assistant Professor of Philosophy of Education and Religious Studies at Urbana Theological Seminary. Dr. Wenneborg’s research focuses on the challenges and possibilities of Christian formation in the midst of deep pluralism.

    In her free time, Dr. Wenneborg enjoys reading, learning new languages, and playing board games and video games. Dr. Wenneborg and her husband, a security engineer at the University of Illinois, live in Urbana, Illinois, where they are active member of their home church.

    “Middle East Reformed Fellowship (MERF) is an evangelical Christian missionary organization which serves in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia on behalf of Reformed and Presbyterian Family of Churches and believers worldwide. Our work is bearing fruit for the Kingdom of Christ among the twenty-two nations of the Arab League and other Muslim areas in Africa and Asia. MERF strengthens national churches with ministries of evangelism, church extension, biblical training, and diaconal aid.”

    All Souls supports Victor and Lisa Atallah with Middle East Reformed Fellowship (MERF), “an evangelical Christian missions organization which serves in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia on behalf of the Reformed and Presbyterian family of churches and believers worldwide. The vision of three young people in Beirut, Lebanon in the early 1970s is now bearing fruit for the Kingdom of Christ among the twenty-two nations of the Arab League and other Muslim areas in Africa and Asia. MERF strengthens national churches with ministries of evangelism, church extension, biblical training, and diaconal aid—to ‘declare the whole counsel of God’ in accord with the historic Reformed confessions.”
